CLIMATE ACTION
Reducing impact. Building resilience. Protecting what matters.
Climate change is happening. The Earth’s average temperature is rising, and this is impacting the natural and built environment. While its effects may be gradual, they are real and having an impact on places of importance to Cairns and Tropical North Queensland, including the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforests.
We are committed to measuring, reducing, and responsibly managing our emissions, while building a business that is resilient for the future.

How We’re Reducing Emissions
Energy & Efficiency:
- Solar generation at our depot contributes to reducing grid electricity use
- Electricity consumption is monitored through supplier systems and reviewed annually
- Energy use is managed through targeted operational controls and equipment efficiency
Transport & Fuel:
-
Transport fuel accounts for over 90% of our measured emissions, making it our key reduction priority
-
Ongoing fleet management and maintenance to improve fuel efficiency
-
Route planning and centralised transfers to reduce total travel distances
-
Exploration of lower-emissions vehicle options as part of future planning
Measuring & Tracking:
-
Emissions are measured across fuel, electricity, water and waste
- Data is collected through fuel providers, energy suppliers and operational records
-
An emissions baseline has been established, with performance measured and reviewed annually to track changes over time.
Continuous Improvement:
-
Environmental performance is reviewed regularly to identify improvement opportunities
-
Data informs operational changes, investment decisions and future planning
-
Improvements in data quality and reporting systems are ongoing priorities
Taking Action Beyond Operations
We support environmental outcomes beyond our core operations by working with local partners, strengthening staff capability, and contributing to conservation efforts across the regions where we operate.
- Work with Traditional Owners, park authorities and land managers to support site protection and conservation objectives
- Contribute to habitat protection through responsible operations and collaboration with regional stakeholders
- Train staff in low-impact practices, wildlife protection and Leave No Trace principles to reduce environmental impact on every tour
-
Engage in community initiatives that promote environmental awareness and responsible visitor behaviour

SUPPORTING RESPOSIBLE CHOICES
Getting ready for your trip is part of the impact you make. Plan ahead, travel thoughtfully, and make choices that protect the places you visit.
A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
Climate action doesn’t stop when the journey ends. Small changes at home can make a big difference, for now and for the future.
